Dawson & Galindo
Location: Part of the 78704 neighborhood in South Austin, bounded by Oltorf and North Ben White Boulevard, this neighborhood is bordered by many of the most popular South Austin streets, such as the eclectic S 1st Street and South Congress.
History: Developed in the 1950’s and 1960’, the neighborhood is known for its mid-20th century architecture but is recently slowly modernizing. There are several popular mosaic murals in the neighborhood created by local artists.
Architecture: Most of the homes in the neighborhood are bungalow and ranch style homes with new construction recently popping up. The neighborhood has a mix of old homes, new homes and is home to many of the St Edward's University students.
Recreation: This neighborhood is home to the busiest HEB in Austin and is known for its ethnically diverse population and strong sense of community. The anchor of the neighborhood is its 11 acre park and recreation area, home to Austin’s only city owned tennis court.
